Welcome to www.louisianacatahoulas.com. The history of the louisiana catahoula dates back to the 1500s, where this type of dog was used in Spain as a war dog. Its ancestors were of Mastiff and Greyhound breeding. They are also called Catahoula Leopard because of their coloration. They are often red and blue merled, white merled, solid colored or patchworked. The eyes are often marbled or cracked in coloration as well as blue, green, brown or yellow. Today, Catahoulas are used for hunting dogs, cattle dogs, and pets. Their weight can vary from 45 to 80 lbs. Catahoulas adapt well to their environment and are very intelligent. Our intent is to provide you with a quick and informative means of contacting breeders and finding related services in the geographic location you desire. Other breeds of dogs may also be found on this website.
